It can't have escaped your notice that BBC Breakfast is devoting part of their programme every day this week to issues surrounding the menopause. They even filmed one of their studio managers in the middle of having a hot flush! We're particularly delighted to see this happening now as it follows our recent successful event where we spent the morning with our experts, Dr Karen Morton, Christien Bird and Jackie Lynch, discussing the symptoms of menopause and peri-menopause, and how to minimise them.

Although the average age for the menopause is 51, some women can experience symptoms of peri-menopause for up to 10 years prior to this. It's important, therefore, that we all have the opportunity to find out more and that this often taboo subject is more widely discussed.

One key area where more knowledge and consideration is required is in the workplace. In the UK, around 280m days per year are less productive due to the menopause negatively affecting work performance. With many more women continuing to work into their 50s and 60s than in previous generations, company culture has to change to combat a documented lack of understanding by employers.

We're playing our own part in this by working with Schroders, the FTSE 100 Asset Management Group, to run a series of in-house wellbeing lunchtime talks. This was initiated by the CEO, Peter Harrison, who understands the importance of bringing this topic into focus and how education brings benefits to the organisation and its people. We're delighted that there are more talks planned and we're hoping to bring them to many more companies.

As you may know, our Directory is packed full of health, beauty, wellbeing and nutrition experts who can help you navigate through the menopause and more. We've lined up just a few of them below, so do read on and click on the links for more information. We have many more experts listed online (too many to share in one email!) and we'll be connecting you with them in our future newsletters.
