I need to scan a bunch of old black and white photos from my parents younger days.

I want to be able to use the scans to create a photobook on an imac to give as a special birthday present for my mothers 80th birthday.

Can anyone recommend a good photo scanning service ? Quite a few come up on an internet search but it’s hard to know which ones will be any good. Any help or direction would be much appreciated.

    Hello Sandy

I appreciate this is a very old post but I wanted to get my details into the thread for future reference. I scan family photo albums, 35mm slides etc. and transfer videos and cine films onto DVD and USB drives. My website is http://www.aboutmeforyou.co.uk. I am based in London SW18 but work for clients all over the UK. I visit you to discuss what you need doing and I collect and deliver to your door, in person. I can provide references if required. So if anyone needs a service like mine, please get in touch.

    Regards

    Philip Williams

    Dear Sandy
I’ve just noticed your post on June 1st and realise we are a month on but if you are still looking for help with this, I often scan and repair antique photographs for my family. I’m a full time art teacher/artist based in Kingston and would be very happy to give you help and advice.
    Best wishes
    Alison.

I would like to highly recommend Richard Greenly (Photography) of Hungerford. I had exactly the work that you are describing done recently by them and the work was excellant. They were old photographs of my Mother growing up in Vancouver. I have known Richard Greenly (Photography) for many years and their work is outstanding. Locketts which is also part of the same company will be superb for your book of photographs. They are exactly what you are looking for. I hope this helps you. Mary. Their telephone number is 01488 685256.

PS. I wonder if you are able to visit Hungerford, if so you will find Richard Greenly for photography and Belinda Greenly for your book of photographs incredibly helpful. I visit their work rooms all the time and it is a morning out that i always enjoy. They also sell beautiful photo frames. Mary
