We were delighted to have the opportunity to sit down with Ashley Jordan, founder of One Stop Organisers, as part of our ‘In Conversation With’ series. What we discovered is truly inspiring. From a series of admin-based jobs and redundancy, a life-changing diagnosis and a renewed self-awareness led to a path of entrepreneurism that focuses on helping others make changes in their lives.
From a record label to self-awareness
As we know, for many entrepreneurs, their journey is driven by a passion and articulates their success. It’s no different for Ashley but little did she know that her admin job at a record label and redundancy in 2003 was about to set her on a path that hadn’t even been thought about.
As many people find when redundancy hits, it’s a time of contemplation and asking, “What do I do next?” Ashley took a practical approach and through personal self-assessment, she started to see a pattern with all her jobs. In every role, she managed projects and, in her own words, “sorted things out…” and she was good at it! Now to find a job that allowed her to help others.
A life-changing diagnosis…
But unbeknown to Ashley, her life was about to change – she was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome. Apart from the realisation that some parts of her life now made sense, Ashley took a positive approach and used the diagnosis as a stepping-stone to better self-awareness. Through self-analysis and treatment, she began to know more about herself but the other side of the coin meant that it became hard to find a new job that suited her needs at the time; there wasn’t the legislation within the workplace that we have now.
A new dawn helping others
Never one to sit down and do nothing, Ashley started to work out how she could use her skills from years of admin and turn it into helping others. She started working closely with families who were downsizing their homes, and with older people who needed more help around the home. Her extensive knowledge and experience meant that she could help work out the logistics and find the answers, whilst relieving their stress at the same time.
“If only I had known 20 years ago what I know now when Mum downsized!”
One Stop Organisers was born. Dedicated to helping parents and grandparents, or someone you care about, with the help and support they need, Ashley and her team offer a range of services from decluttering and downsizing to teaching digital skills and managing daily admin. Fully DBS checked, they fully understand how hard it is for the older generation to let go of some objects that are wrapped in memories. They get how today’s digital world is difficult to grasp, and that managing the paperwork can get harder as we get older. But One Stop Organisers is never far away to lend a helping hand and make a difference.
“I love the satisfaction of helping people and making a difference to their lives. Helping the older generation to live a better life, taking away a lot of their stress and worry, really gives me tremendous job satisfaction.”
Starting a new chapter in your life can be daunting but One Stop Organisers really can help you make the next step easier. Find out more about Ashley and how a life-changing diagnosis turned her future into a life-changing passion. Listen to our In Conversation With… Ashley Jordan today.
