Become a WSE Host Family: Make a Difference and Earn Extra Income from Your Spare Room
Make a difference in a student’s life while discovering new cultures and earning extra income – all from the comfort of your home.
At Wimbledon School of English (WSE), we welcome students from all over the world who come to London to improve their English, experience British culture, and create lifelong memories.
Our host families are at the heart of this experience. For many students, it is their first time living away from home, and a kind, supportive household helps them settle in, feel safe, and truly enjoy their time in London.
Being a WSE host family is about much more than offering accommodation. It means sharing everyday life, providing warmth and guidance, and creating a welcoming environment where students can relax, practise their English, and feel part of British life. You might chat over breakfast, help them find their way around Wimbledon, or share a meal together at the end of the day.
In return, our hosts gain just as much as their students. Hosting brings friendship, cultural understanding, and the satisfaction of knowing you’ve made a difference to someone’s life. It is also a valuable way to earn additional income, which can make good use of a spare room while supporting education and international exchange.
Whether you are a family, a couple, or an individual living alone, you can play an important role in helping international students feel at home — while enjoying an enriching, flexible, and rewarding experience.
Why Host a Student
Becoming a WSE host family offers a unique combination of personal fulfilment, cultural connection, and practical benefits.
- Experience genuine cultural exchange
Meet people from across the world and discover new traditions, ideas, and perspectives — all without leaving home. - Support a student’s learning journey
Give students the opportunity to practise English naturally in daily life, helping them grow in confidence and independence. - Earn additional income
Receive from £980 per student per month for a single room, and up to £2,520 per month for a twin room. Hosting is flexible, so you can choose when and how often you welcome students. - Create lasting friendships
Many hosts stay in touch with their students for years and often visit them abroad or welcome them back to London for a second stay.
Hosting allows you to turn a spare room into something meaningful — a chance to support someone’s education, connect with other cultures, and bring extra income into your home.
