November 2023 Newsletter – Out now!

Hello everyone,

And here we are, at the end of November and hurtling towards Christmas!
If you are looking here for the last Christmas posting dates, you can see them in this web link https://www.royalmail.com/christmas/last-posting-dates#lastpostingdates  or download the below pdf.

You might remember we advertised our Silver Sunday event in the last issue, which was held at St Mary and St John Divine in Balham at the end of September.  Here are a few pictures from the event or you can see many more on the rolling slide show at the top of this web page https://www.onestoporganisers.co.uk/silver-sunday-event/  It was a great event with lots of smiles and lunch cooked by Father Jonathan!  Thank you to everyone involved.
The latest blog in our What to do when series is here:

If you need to help someone with Congestion or ULEZ charges and they don’t have a computer, this contains all they need to know.
If you are thinking of Downsizing and moving to the coast, have a read of this BBC news article https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-67367051 According to the article, coastal regions have poor infrastructure, so do your research before picking somewhere due to the allure of the sea views and coastal air!
Submit your views about Energy Standing Charges to Ofgem who are conducting a review – you can read more in this article:
Energy Standing Charge Review
Our view is you should pay more if you use more, and less if you use less; however, there should be exemptions to rates for higher usage, for instance if you are receiving attendance allowance and certain other medical benefits (as this should cover those with dementia and those receiving care at home).  This type of change would benefit executors if a property is empty due to probate. People can submit their views via email to StandingCharges@ofgem.gov.uk by 19 January.
It just remains for us to wish you all a very happy festive period and to thank you all for your support over the last year.

Best wishes
Ashley and the Team
