“Inspiring Girls has given me access to incredible possibilities that, as a young black woman, I may never have otherwise had access to. I want other girls to be able to have access to the same opportunities.” - Ayla, 14
“Inspiring Girls International is an organisation that not only theoretically speaks about the problems that affect girls all around the globe, but actually implements its ideas.” - Marija, 16
Sadly, gender stereotypes and perceptions still affect girls all over the world, and have a significant impact on their education and career choices from an early age. 55% of girls say that gender stereotypes affect their ability to say what they think, and girls as young as 6 yrs old consider themselves less bright than boys.
Positive role models play a crucial role in breaking down these perceptions - which is why Miriam González Durántez founded Inspiring Girls International in 2016. The charity raises the aspirations of teenage girls by connecting them with amazing women and shining a light on the diverse variety of careers and opportunities available to them. In 2020, we have seen demand for our work increase dramatically as girls' education and aspirations all over the world are affected by the pandemic.
With your help, Inspiring Girls could reach even more girls around the world! There are two ways you can support us this Christmas -
Contribute to our first ever crowdfunder!
We are hoping to raise £4000 during December to support our work around the world and any contribution is greatly appreciated - whether you can give £8 to support outreach to role models, £20 to £375, or £750 to support a girl to participate in Inspiring Girls activities for a year. Head to the Global Giving fundraiser page to find out more.
Record a video!
The Inspiring Girls Video Hub is an innovative way of scaling the campaign, bringing hundreds of role models together to reach even more girls. We believe that every woman is a role model and has the potential to inspire a young woman so we would love you to record a video yourself. It won’t take more than 15 minutes of your time and all the information and guidance that you need can be found on our Hub.
Be the first to hear about our work and the ways you can get involved by signing up here.
