The Really Helpful Club were delighted to host this event on 6th November 2018 at Roehampton Club, to inspire, motivate and inform anyone looking for advice on intergenerational support and care.

We were delighted that Dame Esther Rantzen DBE gave the keynote speech all about tackling loneliness. Dame Esther is the founder of The Silver Line Helpline, the UK’s only free confidential helpline providing information, friendship and advice to older people. We donated £10 from every ticket sold to The Silver Line.
Dame Esther said “Thank you to the Really Helpful Club for organising such an excellent event. By focusing on the key challenges facing older people and, in particular, loneliness they highlighted important areas facing us as a society.
It is imperative that we value and support our older people, I am thrilled that the Really Helpful Club recruited such an impressive group of experts to discuss the issues and I was delighted to be part of it.”
Healthier lifestyles and better medical care are helping towards increased life expectancy. Whilst this is good news, the growing pressures on the NHS and social care services, as well as on ourselves, cannot be ignored. This has created a ‘Sandwich Generation’ – those with older relatives to care for, and children to support. It is vital that we should all be aware of the issues and what we can do to plan ahead and to live our lives to the full.
In response to a growing need for information, this event offered solutions to many of your questions. Our experts helped us to tackle the challenges that we face and advise how to plan across the generations. We heard from our experts on financial and legal planning both for ourselves and across the generations. We were inspired by our health and wellness experts on mental and physical wellbeing at every stage in our lives, and we learnt about different options for assisted living and care for those with elderly relatives to take care of.

The impressive line-up included talks from Alexandra Loydon – Head of Private Client at St. James’s Place Wealth Management on financial planning across the generations. In addition, Lara Milward, award winning health and wellness coach, spoke about helping people of all ages stay physically and mentally fit at every stage in our lives.
Alexandra Loydon said “The event was fantastic and whilst I appreciate the importance of taking financial advice, listening to and meeting all the providers of care solutions, opened my eyes to the huge amount of support available. The key thing is ensuring the financial wherewithal to enable you and your family to choose what’s right.”
We were joined by a number of industry experts to advise on the options for care and assisted living. The event was an exciting opportunity for everyone to make new connections, share their own experiences and meet other like-minded people.
