Staying motivated in lockdown
Stay connected, small challenges, get social and race ready!
If you need some motivation to run during lockdown, why not consider some or all of the following:
*STAY CONNECTED – to your running friends/team mates as they will often provide the inspiration and motivation for you to keep running. It could be agreeing to do the same training run remotely and then comparing notes on WhatsApp; linking up on Zoom for your own workout.
*SMALL CHALLENGES – these could be weekly and/or monthly challenges with team mates or your own individual challenges. The upcoming 2.6 challenge which aims to raise money for UK charities is a great challenge for teams and achievable by all; working on your core could be a personal challenge.
*GET SOCIAL – organise a virtual social once a week with your team mates where you discuss life, work and running challenges during lockdown. Virtual socials help to maintain the social aspect of running which many people miss plus hearing about what other people are doing often spurs you on.
*RACE READY – for those who really miss racing, you might want to consider Race Ready by The Race Organiser that combines virtual running at any chosen distance with a real medal, live competition and reward points that are redeemable as discounts off future races.
