Crash,Bang,Boom

sometimes the unforeseen happens

Sunday morning , I am so excited to get back on my bike.
I had all my stuff laid out the night before.
Really a good tip to master the excuses which inevitably come up on Sunday morning 7 am when it’s cold outside and so snuggly under the duvet.
I wiggle myself into my clothes, coffee, bathroom and some food.
Ready steady go!
As I move my bike through the gate onto the street I feel the excitement in my stomach.
Yeah cycling again for the first time in 2 month.
(Being away, nasty cough, bad weather and excuses had stopped me)
The first pedal strokes and my bike had me fully captured again.
Happily I rode along fully aware that I had plenty of time to get to the cycling club meeting point, as I am usually rushing.
But excitement gets you going, right?
Crash, spin, crash….pain.
What happened?
Can  I move?
My bike ????
Is it ok?
Back to me as I was scanning in my mind through my body!
I think I am alive!
That’s what I meant when I said at the beginning, I had never even thought my bike ride would end that way or that I would get thrown of my bike by a car.
To cut a long story short
What saved me from no broken bones  or more serious injuries then very colourful bruises and a concussion was and is
PILATES!
yes you hear right!
Pilates over the years, kept me limber and being able to move functionally, that my body wasn’t stiff with 58 to fall like a brick of the bike but rather ‘softly’ moving through my body.
I can’t advocate that strongly enough that pilates keeps you young in your body and mind.
And once  you on the floor can you get unaided up?
Think about it!
This is vital!
