Need a Women’s Health Physio?
Be Terrific at 20, Tremendous at 30, Fabulous at 40, Fantastic at 50, Stunning at 60!
Are you expecting a Summer baby?
Many congratulations but are you worried about having a baby during the COVID-19 pandemic?
Hospitals are scheduling some appointments online, delivery procedures and hospital stays have changed. If these changes are making you anxious or scared this affects your sympathetic nervous system and the rise of adrenaline (the “fight or flight hormone’) releases cortisol and other stress-related hormones which are not beneficial to you or your unborn baby.
It is vital that you learn and practise deep breathing exercises and relaxation in order to keep you calm in pregnancy, under control in labour and able to cope in the early Post-Natal period.
You need to activate your parasympathetic nervous system “rest and digest system”, the opposite to the “fight or flight’ and this will promote equilibrium in your body and allow it to rest and repair itself.
I am teaching antenatal preparation for labour, relaxation techniques and breathing exercises online by Zoom; let me help you during your pregnancy.
Have you had a baby recently?
Many congratulations but what a busy time for you – feeding, looking after and learning what your new baby wants and needs; maybe you also have a toddler or older children or a partner working from home or you are trying to homeschool?
Do you have any time for yourself or your post natal recovery?
Have you been exercising your pelvic floor?
Have you checked the gap in your tummy muscles, does your tummy “dome’, do you still look pregnant?
Do you leak a little urine when you cough or sneeze?
Are you suffering from back ache or pain in your pelvis?
Do you have a painful scar after your delivery?
If YES to any of the above would you like a full Mummy MOT?
As a Women’s Health Physiotherapist I can help you with all these issues. Our POSTNATAL courses are now online and very successful, with a weekly video, an emailed postnatal information pack and exercise sheets. These are very popular with new mums who can watch the videos several times a week when the baby lets them or the babies join in too! Please let us help you in your postnatal period.
Do you have any pelvic floor problems?
Perhaps you are older?
One’s 40s can be challenging times for some ladies nearing the menopause (average age 51) when declining oestrogen levels cause pelvic floor laxity allowing the pelvic organs to prolapse, incontinence, painful sex and vaginal dryness – there is much advice that I can offer to help you.
I am successfully “seeing” and treating ladies via Zoom initially until face to face appointments become possible again.
Please don’t hesitate to let me know if I can help you.
